About Me
Welcome to my website! My name is Jacob Schildknecht.
As a researcher at the Center for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim, I work at the intersection of digital economics, data science, and applied economics. My current focus is on the implementation of deep learning architectures in an economic context and platform economics.
What drives me personally is curiosity about what lies behind things—be it the technical architecture of software or the macroeconomic drivers behind market movements. Today, I combine this passion for technology, which has been with me since I was 10 years old, with my second great interest: economics.

Mein Werdegang
My enthusiasm for technology and data analysis has shaped my career path since completing my bachelor’s degree in business informatics (University of Paderborn). There, I laid a strong foundation in software development (including Python, Java, R, and C++).
To deepen my expertise, I completed two specialized master’s degree programs:
- M.Sc. Applied Data Science (University of Utrecht): Here, I was able to consolidate my application skills in data science through numerous projects and gain valuable international experience.
- M.Sc. Economics (University of Heidelberg): With a focus on financial econometrics and macroeconomics, I expanded my understanding of economic relationships, which I also apply in practice through my own investments and consulting activities.

My passion for data: From analyzing sentences to developing predictive models (especially deep learning).

Fascination with business analysis and macroeconomic relationships, which I also actively pursue in my private life.

Enthusiasm for technology in practice: Not only discovering new developments (AI, software), but also understanding and applying them.
